Welcome to Orange Rose Photography! My name is Hannah, and I live in Philadelphia with my husband, Josh, and our two ridiculously friendly kittens, Captain 'Jack' Sparrow and Mizu.
I love people and I love stories, and I love remembering those people and stories.
I also have a very vivid, very visual memory, and think of and remember everything in images. As such, there are few things I treasure more than photographs.
However, I know that choosing your photographer is a big decision, and there are a few more things you might want to know about me. So, here are some items I consider pretty important...
• I would absolutely be in Gryffindor (what? me? a troublemaker?). Josh would absolutely be in Ravenclaw. We make a good team.
• Gymnastics is the bestest sport ever. (I might have "made" Josh watch the gymnastics segments of the 2008 Olympics while we were on our honeymoon...)
• I would do anything for my family and friends. "Loyal to a fault" probably describes me well.
• The toilet paper roll should always be coming out on top.
• Everyone deserves access to an excellent education, regardless of the zip code they were born into. (Yes, this is very similar to Teach For America's mission, and yes, I did TFA, and am a huge supporter.)
• My husband is the most awesome friend and partner ever. He's also the tallest, skinniest Asian man I know. I kinda love him a lot.
• Romans 8 and Micah 6:8.
• There's always room for dessert. Especially if it's ice cream or a cannoli.
• Chai... mmm. I have an unhealthy relationship with it (at least for an American) and an amazing homemade version, too (from India). It's also best when made in large pot with a wooden spoon, and shared late at night during great discussions with friends.
• Any and all things theatre. I adore it. People and stories... what more could I possibly ask for? (Hmm... sound similar to photography, anyone?)
• Reading. It's a constant with me. I'm currently working through all of the Newbery Medal winning books (up to 23 out of 90). Favorite authors include: J.R.R. Tolkien, Chaim Potok, Madeleine L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Roald Dahl, George MacDonald, and Kate DiCamillo.
• The city. I love traveling and visiting other places, but the city's just what feels like home. My family's still wondering how that happened.
• The smell of garlic on my fingers. Yes, it's true! I also enjoy the good food it's usually connected to.
• Board games! And I'm not talking Monopoly. I'm talking about the ridiculously awesome strategic kind. (At our wedding, our tables were named after games. Yeah, nerd alert!) Some favorites: Agricola, Arkham Horror, Dominion, Pandemic, Power Grid, and Small World.
• My favorite color, which happens to be Orange, and my middle name, which happens to be Rose. =)
• My husband. And our kittens. Oh wait, I said that already. But at least I'm not gushing too much, right?
Little baby Asia is the first of my newborn mini-sessions to be featured this week. This sweet little girl just turned one month old, and I had a great time documenting all of her little baby details (including her killer eyelashes). She was so cute, and at one point, as I exclaimed that she was simply “precious”, her mom told me that’s actually her nickname. I think it’s rather fitting.
